Bc Lions Gm Bob Ackles - Passes Away

The Canadian Football League has lost one of its biggest supporters. Bob Ackles, an integral member of the B.C. Lions for more than 50 years, died of a heart attack early Sunday morning. He was 69. The native of Sarnia, Ontario started with the Lions as the team's water boy in 1953 and eventually became one of the game's most influential builders.

Yes, Bobby Ackles was a key builder and an integral part to the Lions and the CFL. A genuine good guy, he will be missed.

Bob Ackles in the little guy (former waterboy) who made it big in administrative positions in CFL and NFL. One of the nicest guys and great managers in CFL history. Condolences to everyone who loved him. May Mr. Ackles rest in heaven.
